will certainly be a big point of the debate. it's entirely possible that romney will run as any republican challenger ever. pulling on the whites bush '88 come all 56 to 61% of whites range. romani could come right in that range and lose, and i think that is down to -- it should precipitate a conversation in the party. this is the last time anyone will try to do this that is entirely on the back. it's unrealistic when 62 or 63, but the existing collision is so dependent on the community that are uneasy with the change that they are just paralyzed in the intellectual understanding the have to reach out to the hispanics and difficulty they are fighting it in degrees note here at the end. the republican platform in addition to everything else it says about immigration, so any straight defeat does state that provides should be barred from all federal higher education money which means under the republican platform every kid in texas couldn't get a pell grant. so, that is sort of what they are grappling with, versus if you talk to karl rove awarded gillespie and the understanding tha

debate in a three point -- structurally president obama, this part of romney's analysis is correct that he is a weak incumbent. he is not quite george bush's you look at the numbers in 2004 and he is vulnerable. i wonder if they could have done more. romney should give a major speech or do this or let out his agenda. i suspect the democrats are more solid in their support of president obama but less critical at least in public. it thought were a democrat that wish to welcome the outside i would have -- maybe he should be doing a little more. he is at some risk of looking like an incumbent staggering to victory by discrediting his opponent with 50.1% of the electorate and it might work. one will discredit the other. may be less for more running room than i would have expected. if you told me what happened i would have thought the numbers would be worse for romney. >> if you give us your name and organization? >> the financial times. i am curious what the predicted dynamic would be between as governor romney is elected with paul ryan as vice president and dealing with the house and o

debate begins. this for in our discussion with the obama and romney campaigns and as we've looked at the party platform, we have seen lots of attention being paid to child care and early learning that we might have expected. both in the presidential and also in the congressional races. given the research that points to the impact of attention to their earliest years of life, and given the of vintages of child care and helping low-income workers, we might have expected, for example, democrats to focus on child care after obama had been criticized for allowing flexibility for states and welfare work requirements. given the gender gap that the republicans face and need to overcome and given that child care is an issue many working mothers have been concerned about for a long time we might have expected detention to be paid by republicans. as i reported in the recent huffingtonpost.com peace and others talked about there's been insufficient attention paid by the campaigns in the opinion of many. the singular focus on employment and the deficit have taken the wind out of the sale of is

country that hasn't been mentioned, china. is there a legitimate debate over china this campaign? romney promise as hard-line on china. >> no. i think that, you know, the rise of china asia-pacific is one of the most important developments that will happen over the coming decades. it is one of reasons why the president wanted to put more emphasis on the asia-pacific understanding that china's rising, india's rising, asia will drive so much of our economic prosperity in the future. the united states always played a stablizing role there. we need to continue to play that role but i think, you know, china is a country where we will, it will be very important for us to have areas of cooperation as this administration has done, whether it has been cooperation on sanctions, whether it has been cooperation on climate change, whether it has been cooperation on economic issues, whether it has been cooperation in domains like nonproliferation. very important recognizing that there will be areas where we have difference. we have to have very, tough, candid conversations with the chinese about that.
